Microcurrent Therapy
|
Starman Chiropractic Center is one of only 20 clinics in Georgia that offers Frequency Specific Microcurrent Therapy (FSM). FSM is changing what is possible in pain management and injury healing. FSM is designated by the FDA as a TENS device, although the current is 1000 times less than that of a TENS device. FSM is not a TENS device; it is just the closest type of technology that it can be grouped with. Given this fact, we are restricted by what we can claim about the effects of microcurrent, meaning, it is very effective for pain relief. However, there are many clinical findings about the effects of the different frequencies used with this particular type of microcurrent. One frequency in particular can reduce inflammation in tissue by 62% after 4 minutes; more effective than any anti-inflammatory medication used in blinded animal studies. Other research shows it dramatically increases ATP (energy production) in tissues by 500%, speeds protein synthesis, and rids tissues of waste products. The effects result in a dramatic increase in the speed at which tissues can heal and recover. Dr. Shannan Starman has seen patients recover from strain/sprain injuries, fractures, whiplash, disc injuries, and surgical procedures much faster than expected, average healing times. Typically these patients will get feedback from their orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists expressing shock and amazement at the speed of their recovery.
